How do I become an AFS volunteer?
Email our Volunteer Development Team or call 1300 131 736 to learn more about the many opportunities for volunteering.
What are AFS volunteers responsible for?
On a local level AFS volunteers help coordinate recruitment, selection, placement, preparation and support activities for AFS participants and host families. Volunteers also help with fundraising, volunteer training and development as well as arrange various social AFS activities and events. Regional and national volunteers coordinate activities on a broader scale and some may also serve as members of the AFS Australia Board.
Do I need to speak a foreign language to be an AFS volunteer?
Volunteers are not required to speak a foreign language, although it can be a great way to learn or brush up!
How much time do I need to give to AFS as a volunteer?
There is no set requirement for how much time you give AFS. Some volunteers choose to focus their work on a single activity within their community. AFS welcomes your support and respects your availability.
