Millions of visitors come to Australia each year to explore its unique nature, beauty, wildlife and much more. Join an AFS Safari and discover one of the world’s most magnificent countries!

To give AFS students and their host siblings the opportunity to explore Australia and make friends from all over the worldAFS offers a number of fun and adventurous safaris each year!

In addition to Safari Staff, two AFS Group Leaders will also join and monitor each Safari trip. As always, AFS provides 24-hour support and medical cover for all participants, as our participants’ safety is our number one priority.

Safari News

North West Safari: 23 September – 8 October 2008

This is a real safari unlike any other and not for the faint hearted! The safari is hands on with lots of new experiences and activities to enjoy with new friends. There will be times when there will be no electricity or running water, so no showers… you might even find yourself having to dig a hole to go to the bathroom! Some nights you will have a roof over your head, but most nights you will be sleeping out under the stars in Cross Country swags (tarps). Red Centre Tour: 28 September – 12 October

Leaving from Sydney, you will head west towards the famous Red Centre of Australia on an unforgettable two week experience, finishing off your journey in Melbourne. During the safari, you will get the chance to:

• Visit the Western Plains Zoo
• See Broken Hill
• Learn about Aboriginal culture
• Sleep underground in an opal mining town
• See Uluru and the spectacular Kings Canyon
• Visit beautiful Alice Springs

Down Under Discovery Tour: 6 – 18 January 2009

Departing Sydney and finishing up in Brisbane, this is the ultimate East Coast adventure! During the 12 day voyage, you will have the opportunity to:

• Go kayaking
• Swim with dolphins
• Learn about Aboriginal culture
• Visit Dreamworld
• Go to the famous Australia Zoo
• Discover Australia’s amazing beaches

Chaperones Wanted!

AFS is currently seeking a male chaperone for the Red Centre Tour in September. A Senior First Aid Certificate is a must, as is a current Working With Children Clearance. Click here to download a copy of the Group Leader Profile form.
