The Rio Tinto WA Future Fund is committed to promoting peace through global understanding and through its recent partnership with AFS Intercultural Programs, full and partial scholarships are now open for applications.
This scholarship program is available to any AFS country worldwide on any program (High School, Community Service or University Exchange) departing in late 2008 or 2009! (The level of support will be determined in due course when the final selections are made by AFS.)
The scholarship covers all or part of the AFS participation fee including:
√ Return travel from your home right to the door of your host family
√ Orientation and enrichment activities during the stay
√ Medical costs incurred during the visit, except for pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care
Who is eligible?
For High School Exchange Applicants:
Any Rio Tinto WA employee’s child who:
√ is attending secondary school
√ aged 14-17 at the time of application
√ meets the AFS application guidelines
For 18+ Community Service Program and University Program applicants:
Any Rio Tinto WA employee’s child who is :
√ Mature enough to meet the challenges of life in another country as a member of a family and community
√ Able to demonstrate a willingness to work consistently
√ In good health

Prior to AFS’s recent partnership with the The Rio Tinto WA Future Fund, AFS has been working with different divisions of the Rio Tinto Group since the early 90’s. During this time twenty two students have been sponsored to take up the challenge of international student exchange.
