AFS Intercultural Programs and Optus have teamed up to offer an exciting new scholarship program – The Optus Cultural Exchange Program.
This prestigious program offers Optus employees or their family members the opportunity to study or undertake volunteer work in a choice of more than 50 AFS countries worldwide in 2009.
The two scholarships are fully funded by Optus and are available in the High School Exchange and Community Service Exchange programs. These exchange programs provide an opportunity for you to meet new challenges, and let you immerse yourself in a completely different culture while developing life and language skills.
Each scholarship covers the entire AFS participation fee which includes:
√ Return travel from your home right to the door of your host family
√ Orientation and enrichment activities during the stay
√ Medical costs incurred during the visit, except for pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care
Who are the programs for?
High School Exchange Program (6 or 12 months):
An Optus permanent employee’s child or sibling who:
√ is aged 14-17 at the time of application
√ is attending secondary school at the time of application
√ meets the AFS application guidelines
Community Service Exchange Program (6 or 12 months):
Any Optus permanent employee, or their family member who:
√ is aged 18 or over at the start of the program
√ meets the AFS application guidelines
How do I apply?
Register your interest by enquiring online or phone the AFS office on 1300 131 736.
You then need to complete a full application by 1 August 2008. Click here for the AFS online application.
Optus has been working in partnership with AFS since 2007.
In this time it has sponsored three students to take up the challenge of living and studying overseas for one year.
