Next year, AFS Australia will be celebrating 50 years of intercultural exchange. And to commemorate the occasion, we are proud to offer 20 partial scholarships (15 for early year and 5 for mid-year departures) to the children, step-children or grandchildren of any AFS returnee!
What does the scholarship cover?The scholarship will cover a 50% discount off the participation fee for a one year high school exchange to any AFS partner country, departing either early or mid-2009. The AFS participation fee includes:
- International flights
- Accommodation and food provided by a host family
- School fees at your host school
- Medical costs incurred during the visit (except for pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care)
Applicants must:
- Be the child (step children included) or grandchild of an AFS returnee (the returnee need not have been sent by AFS Australia – any AFS partner is acceptable)
- Be attending secondary school and in Year 9, 10, 11 or 12 at the time of application
- Meet the AFS application guidelines
How do I apply?
Before you get started on anything, you need to make sure that your parent or grandparent is registered as an AFS Alumni! It will only take a few minutes and can be completed online!

When is the closing date for the application?
Applications for early 2009 departures have now closed. Online applications must be submitted by 1st April 2009 for a mid-2009 departure.
