For the first time, the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Fund, in conjunction with AFS Intercultural Programs, is offering four indigenous students the exciting opportunity to spend a challenging and enlightening experience living and studying abroad!
This scholarship program is available to any AFS country worldwide on any Intensive, Semester or Year program High School, departing in late 2008 or during 2009!
Through the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Fund networks, the following schools have expressed an interest in having their students participate in the program. AFS has a model of working in partnership with specific schools. The scholarship is only open to students from these schools:
Lourdes Hill College, Queensland
Kormilda Central School, Northern Territory
Presbyterian Ladies’ College, Western Australia
St Joseph’s College Echuca, Victoria
Who is eligible?
Any student from one of the schools above that has been preselected by the Teacher coordinating this Scholarship Program.
√ is attending secondary school and in Years 9-12 at the time of application
√ has a sense of adventure
√ is in good health
The full scholarships will cover:
√ Return travel from your home right to the door of your host family
√ Orientation and enrichment activities during the stay
√ Medical costs incurred during the visit, except for pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care
