AFS Intercultural Programs, together with Girlfriend Magazine, are giving away 5 scholarships on the prestigious JENESYS (Japan – East Asia Network of Exchange of Students and Youths) Program to Japan from 4-18 December 2008!
How does spending an exciting 2 weeks discovering one of the world’s most unique cultures sound? With majestic temples and shrines nestled amongst never-ending skyscrapers, Japan is an unbelievable blend of the traditional and the modern.
Participants on the JENESYS Program will get the chance to stay with a volunteer Japanese host family, attend a Japanese school, and take part in an amazing study tour across the country, visiting Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Hiroshima! This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!
What does the scholarship cover?- International flights and travel within Japan (please note, domestic travel within Australia is not included)
- All accommodation and food in Japan
- Medical insurance (excluding pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care)
You must be:
- An Australian resident
- Enrolled in high school at the time of departure
- Aged between 15 and 18 at the time of departure
- Able to travel to Japan between 4 and 18 December, 2008

How do I apply?
Step 1: In order for us to know that you are interested in applying for this scholarship, you must first submit an Online Enquiry. Under “How did you hear about AFS?” please select “Newspaper/Magazine ad” and then in the Comments section at the bottom of the page, please write “Girlfriend Scholarship”. If you do not follow these steps, your interest will not be registered!
All Online Enquiries must be submitted by 30 June 2008.
Step 2: You’ve submitted your Online Enquiry? Then it’s time to get started on your Online Application! Just make sure you select the JENESYS Student Program (2 week) application.
Please note, if you are awarded one of the scholarships, there is an $88 application processing fee payable.
Completed Online Applications must be received by 31 July 2008.
