AFS is thrilled to announce that Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd, AFS is offering three full scholarships to Japan available for an Intensive Program (for 8 weeks) departing in December 2010. These scholarships are offered to the children of Mitsui Coal employees in the mines listed below.

The scholarship funds the entire AFS participation fee to Japan. It covers:
√ Return travel from your home right to the door of your host family
√ Orientation and enrichment activities during the stay
√ Medical costs incurred during the visit, except for pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care

Who is eligible?
Child of a permanent employee:
√ working at Dawson, Kestrel or Bengalla mines and Capcoal Underground Operations, Capcoal Surface Operations
√ is in Year 9, 10, 11 or 12 at any high school in Australia the year of application
√ meets the AFS application guidelines for Japan
√ is successful in AFS selection

Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd is leading Japanese trading house in coal export tonnage to Japan, and has investments in six mines in Queensland and two mines in NSW.

AFS has been working in partnership with Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd since 2006. During this time five students have been sponsored to experience a two month program in Japan. Also three students participated in the AFS JENESYS program last year.
