Follow the four simple steps to apply to be an AFS Host Family. Enrich your family’s life by sharing it with a young person from another culture. Join our Global Community today!
1 - Start the process!
Submit a Host Family Interest Form to be connected with AFS in your community. AFS has a network of hundreds of dedicated and trained volunteers who live in the communities like yours where AFS Exchange Students are hosted.
2 - Learn More
Read Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a host family and learn about the countries where students come from. A local AFS Volunteer will also guide you through the process and answer questions you may have about the hosting experience.
3 - Complete an online application
On the application, you’ll be asked to write about your household, community, lifestyle, and what is important to your family. In addition, household members ages 18 and older will be required to complete a working with childrens check relevant to each state.
4 - Be matched with your AFS Participant
Review student profiles with your local volunteer once your application has been approved. AFS students have demonstrated an interest in immersing themselves in different cultures, so you’ll be sure to find a student that matches your interests and lifestyle.
If at anytime you have any questions regarding hosting an AFS participant, please contact the AFS local volunteer near you, or the National Office on 1300 131 736
